This book has its roots in the Desperately Seeking Paul podcast, a labour of love from former radio broadcaster and journalist Dan Jennings, which ran for three years from December 2020 with 180 in-depth audio interviews with those closest to Weller; culminating in an exclusive 2-hour interview with Paul Weller, which many believe was Paul's most personal, insightful, in-depth, open and revealing interview ever.

The result will be a groundbreaking oral history, meticulously curated from this extraordinary wealth of material, augmented by additional interviews and content specifically tailored for this publication.

With over 140 hours of interviews, this unique repository of conversations includes an extraordinary array of voices. From family members and the architects of The Jam - Steve Brookes, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler - to pivotal collaborators like Mick Talbot of The Style Council and multiple Honorary Style Councillors such as Jaye Ella-Ruth, Billy Chapman, Barbara Snow, Omar, Ashley Slater and Guy Barker.

Many of these interviewees share their stories and connections with Paul Weller for the very first time: legendary tour manager Kenny Wheeler, Paul's manager Claire Moon, Go Discs record boss Andy Macdonald, studio engineers Brendan Lynch and Charles Rees and head roadie Roger Nowell, being key examples.
