William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was a poet, an actor, and a theatrical producer, in addition to being a playwright. A popular dramatist in his day, he oversaw the building of the Globe Theatre, where many of his plays were staged. The First Folio of his dramatic works was published in 1623.
