John Heffernan is a widely published author of books for children. His books include Spud and Pup, both CBCA Notable Books in 1997 & 2002, and Rachael s Forest, which was shortlisted for the Wilderness Society s Environmental Award for Literature in 1999. My Dog was awarded Book of the Year for Younger Readers and Honour book in the Picture Book category by the CBCA in 2001, as well as being shortlisted for the NSW Premier s Literary Awards. It has been translated into Japanese and French. Two Summers was shortlisted for the CBCA Picture Book of the Year awards in 2003, and received the Crichton Award. A Horse Called Elvis received the CBCA Honour Book award for Younger in 2005, while The Island won Honour Book in the CBCA Picture Book category in 2006, as well as being inducted into the International Youth Library in Munich. John's other books for younger readers include The Mind Master in the Quentaris Chronicles, Sykie and Stinky, the Tale of a Smelly Dog. John is a farmer at Walcha on the New England Tablelands.Stephen Axelsen illustrates and writes children s humour/fantasy books. These include Desert Dan the Dunnyman by Di Bates, winner of the 1999 KOALA award for younger readers, and Bungaloo Creek by Katrina Nannestad, a CBCA Notable Book in 2002. Stephen has been a contributing illustrator to School Magazine for twenty years, and is influenced by English writers such as Roald Dahl and Terry Pratchett, and illustrators like Arthur Rackham, Ronald Searle and Quentin Blake. Stephen lives in New Brighton, New South Wales.
